100% leather shoes with padded wooden soles

Our Veda slides are cut, stitched & stamped by hand in a little village in India on the Pakistani border. The village is very poor, there’s no electricity and the shoemaker employs local craftspeople.  Their tools are basic and well worn, the work is done sitting on blankets in a communal space and the conversation flows over many cups of chai tea. This work provides a wage for their family and a chance to practise their craft in an industry that’s becoming more and more industrialised with the introduction of large factories and machinery. 

Any irregularities in the cutting, stamping or stitching add to the style’s authenticity, we love having the opportunity to support artisan craftspeople where we can.
